SALWA ABDUL RAHMAN

A popular 1980s singer known for her sweet voice and bubbly personality, Datuk Salwa Abdul Rahman, 47, is still very active in showbiz today, with performances and other activities.

Since 1989, she has been best known as the better half of national footballer Subadron Aziz. The couple has two children, Puteri Sulaikha Subadron, 15, and Putera Sufrie Nizam, 11.

Salwa comes from Johor Baru and first found fame by winning Bintang Pujaan Radio RTM Johor Baru in 1985. She recorded her debut album Liku Hidupku a year later.

She has more than 15 albums under her belt and they include Cubit-Cubit Sayang, Satu Dua Kau, Bergelek Dangdut, Lahirku Wanita and Mulus.

Also an actress, she has starred in the romantic comedy Kolej 56 in 1989 which also featured Ahmad Fauzee, Datuk Shah Rezza and Erma Fatima.

These days, she entertains at corporate events and is an active member of the Malaysian Artistes' Association or Karyawan (she became one of its committee members last year).

Her latest album two years ago featured 10 of her greatest hits such as Satu Dua Kau, Terlanjur Aku Mencintaimu and Cubit-Cubit Sayang.

A health-conscious beauty, Salwa believes in exercising regularly and eating right.

Recently, she conducted a performance clinic for aspiring singers in the recent Selangor I Love Music Festival in Sekolah Kebangsaan Hulu Klang, alongside Datin Paduka Julie Sudiro and Azizul Khamis.
