A group of children aged five to 15 who are in association with the BAFTAs Kids' Vote organization voted "Prisoner of Azkaban" as the film of the decade for the First Light Awards, BBC News reports. The other movies in the voting pool were "Shrek," "Whale Rider," "Happy Feet" and "Up."
Okay, so they aren't saying definitively that "Prisoner of Azkaban" is the best of the best "Potter" films, though through the transitive property of awards shows, we can assume that if "Prisoner of Azkaban" was the "Potter" film picked to be the top five films of the decade and then it was voted as the film of the decade, then obviously it has to be the best of the "Potter" films, right? There's no way that's just my personal bias showing through, is there? [Editor's Note: No, Terri. No bias at all!]
"[The award is] an honor and a privilege," producer David Heyman said as he accepted the award. "It's especially exciting and moving to be voted Film of the Decade by children aged five to 15."
The First Light Awards celebrate short films created by children ages five to 19. It provides funding and helps to enable people between those ages to make their own films and media projects. Of course, those ages are the target audiences for the "Potter" films.
"I remember my last day of shooting which was the last day for a lot of people, and some of them had been there for more than 10 years, so it really became very emotional," said Clemence Posey, the "Potter" actress who presented Heyman with the award.
